Man Utd 3-0 Tottenham and Nasri Moves to Manchester City

First things first, Samir Nasri has reportedly completed his transfer away from Arsenal to Manchester City for £24 million.

The 24 year old French International winger had just 1 year left on his contract, meaning that if Wenger were to insist that he stay then he could end up leaving on a free contract at the end of the season.  I guess taking the £24 million now and finding a replacement for him at the start of the season is better than losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Wenger is reportedly using the funds to sign 20 year old Lilles playmaker Eden Hazard fro £26 million.  The young Belgium International is under contract until 2015 and helped Lille win the French league and Cup double last year with 23 goals in 120 appearances.  The midfield/winger has also played 20 times for Belgium already however the French champions have stated that they will rebuff any offer from the Gunners or Arsene Wenger.

Meanwhile, the acquisition of Samir Nasri will a huge boost to Manchester City, who’ve already seen their title odds chopped and changed after impressive performances against Swansea (4-0) and Bolton (3-2).  Manchester City now sit at the top of the table on goal different are in my opinion are serious contenders for the title after signing £34 million striker Kun Aguero from Athletico Madrid over summer.

Unfortunately Arsenal look primed for a torrid season this year now after losing their two best players in Fabregas and Nasri over summer.  Just days before their crucial Champions League qualifier away to Udinese on Wednesday night, Arsenal will need to bring in at least 2 new players immediately if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League group stage and getting top 4 spot in the Premier League this season.

Manchester Utd 3-0 Tottenham

While everything is going sour down South, everything up North seems to be hanky dory.

Man Utd’s 2nd youngest Premier League team in their history brushed aside a weakened Tottenham site 3-0 at home at Old Trafford.

With no less than 4 Man Utd players make their home debut (Jones, Wellbeck, Cleverley and De Gea), Ferguson’s young men did him proud as they tore open Tottenham in the 2nd half of the game.  3 goals in the space of 26 minutes courtesy of former Sunderland loanee Danny Wellbeck, Anderson and Wayne Rooney proved just how good Utd’s flock of young England players could be in the future.

21 year old centre-back Phil Jones proved just what a fantastic signing he had been after manning the back of the defence and becoming the lynchpin of the team.  Everything he did was controlled and his post-match interview where he presented Danny Wellbeck with the man-of-the-match award showed his maturity at such a young age.

I personally see Phil Jones becoming the future Man Utd and England captain in the not too distant future, and I think he’s going to be giving Vidic and Ferdinand a serious run for their money.  Although he lacks their experience in big matches, he made up for it with fresh legs, speed and a willingness to run upfront for the entire 90 minutes.  His control, leadership at the back and comfortableness on the ball seperates him aside form other English defenders such as Matthew Upson and Michael Dawson for example.
