Developing mobile gaming applications is fast becoming one of the safest options for online gaming operators. Mobile gaming was being toted as one of the sectors to experience most growth in history – this was said over 10 years ago. Though it took a while to really reach the masses, 2011 has been a good year for the industry, as the inspired notion to pair social networking websites with smart phones became a reality. Since then, the industry has developed in leaps and bounds – raking in massive returns for the online gaming operators and manufacturing innovative products for the users.

UK’s Online and Mobile Gaming Scene

The UK has become a hub for online and mobile gaming operations. Several companies based there are pioneers in the field of mobile gaming software. Playtech, for example, recently took over Mobenga, a leading company in the field of converting online gaming companies’ services to mobile accessible media. Mobenga was valued at close to €23 million and was bought over in order to start a new division for software development within Playtech.

New Developments in Mobile Gaming

Microgaming has also entered a contract with Spin 3, another important company in the online gaming field, to provide solutions for mobile gaming issues. Almost all of the larger mobile gaming operators offer cross-platform gaming applications that can be accessed on Android, Blackberry, HTML and iOS. Java applications are slated to be the new trend in mobile gaming. Online gaming variants like bingo, sports betting and slots are being adapted to work on smart phones and small screened phones.
